An Australian pub opens on the Lower East Side
The antipodes, as in the food and wine, are on robust display at this Aussie pub in the Lower East Side. The menu features kangaroo skewers, sausage rolls, lamb ragout and a fisherman’s basket for two that includes fish tempura, fried prawns, squid and charred lemon. Isla Parma, a take on chicken Parm, an Aussie pub classic, is also on the menu. Australia and New Zealand dominate the wine list. Among the cocktails is an espresso martini flight.

An all-day dining destination is moving to Williamsburg just in time for the New Year. Isla & Co. will officially open its doors on Jan. 1 at 66 Grand St., welcoming neighbors for both brunch and dinner from day one.

Isla & Co. Opens in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
Parched Hospitality Group, which is behind the Hole in the Wall restaurants, have hired Matt Foley, a former sous-chef at Marea, to be executive chef. He’ll run brunch, as well as dinner, with an eclectic menu that includes a burger, fish and chips, rigatoni alla vodka with spicy shrimp, Thai green curry and half a chicken with roasted spring vegetables. Sticky date pudding and lemon panna cotta are the sweets. The restaurant is a spinoff of Isla in the Hotel Hendricks in Manhattan, which reopens Thursday after a long pandemic hiatus. In addition, locations of Isla & Co. will show up this year in Atlanta, Miami Beach and West Palm Beach. (Opens Wednesday)
